E-Invoice Reporting Within 30 Days: A Cash-Flow Check for ₹10 Crore-Plus Businesses

An invoicing delay can become a collection delay. Businesses subject to the 30-day e-invoice reporting restriction should make compliance part of their order-to-cash routine, especially during a busy sales period.

Keep two thresholds separate

The GST-authorised IRP advisory introduced a 30-day reporting restriction from 1 April 2025 for taxpayers with aggregate annual turnover of ₹10 crore and above. It covers invoices and relevant debit and credit notes. This is a reporting-time restriction, not the general threshold determining who must issue e-invoices.

Ask the tax team to confirm applicability using the correct turnover history and current requirements. Do not assume a current-month sales figure settles the question.

Connect billing to collection

Set a daily exception report for documents awaiting an IRN, rejected submissions and credit-note adjustments. Assign responsibility for correcting master data and passing valid documents to customers.

A buyer's accounts-payable team may not process an incomplete invoice pack on schedule. Even where goods have been delivered, a documentation issue can prevent the receivable from becoming a dependable source of cash.

A simple control for busy weeks

Reconcile dispatch records, invoices, IRNs and customer submission acknowledgements. Flag items approaching the reporting limit well before the final day; the 30-day boundary is not a recommended waiting period.

Where an error has already occurred, seek tax advice on the lawful remedy. Do not alter transaction dates merely to fit a system window.

Funding implication: a lender reviewing receivables needs confidence that the reported sales are real, correctly documented and collectible. A clean invoice trail supports that assessment, although it does not guarantee approval.

Measure the days lost between dispatch and a complete customer submission. Reducing that avoidable gap can improve cash flow without increasing borrowing.
